BELIEVE ME NOT! - - A SKEPTICs GUIDE
Next: Tolerance
In preceding Chapters we discussed the tactical problems
associated with describing quantitative measurements,
reminding ourselves that the tools we use
(numbers, dimensions, units)
are almost perfectly arbitrary in isolation
but embody a functional or relational truth in the
``grammar'' of their use.
Accepting these tools provisionally,
we turn now to the far messier problem of
actually performing measurements.
